Caring for Your Dentures

To keep your dentures lasting longer and to maintain good oral health, it is important to have a regular care routine and use the right methods. Taking care of your dentures can help them last for a long time. It also supports good oral hygiene and gives you a healthier smile.

At Dental Arts Of Cherry Hills, we want to help you with aftercare for your dentures. Our team will give you personal tips and instructions on how to take care of your new smile.

Daily Maintenance Tips

Daily care is critical to keep your dentures looking good and working well. Use these easy tips to make a good denture care routine:

  • Rinse your dentures after each meal. Food bits can quickly get stuck between your dentures and gums. This can cause discomfort and hurt your oral health.
  • Brush your dentures every day with a soft-bristled brush and denture cleaner. Gently brush all parts of your dentures. This helps to remove plaque and dirt, keeping your mouth clean and healthy.
  • Soak your dentures at night. Soaking can help remove stains, freshen your breath, and moisten your dentures. Use a denture soak according to the product label.

These daily care steps allow you to enjoy the dental benefits of longer-lasting dentures, better oral health, and a brighter smile.

Handling and Storage Best Practices

Proper care and storage are key to keeping your dentures safe and protecting your oral health.

  • Handle with care. Dentures can break easily, so be gentle when you hold them. Always clean them over a soft surface or a sink full of water to catch any drops.
  • Store in a cool, dry place. When not using your dentures, please keep them in a bath or a container with water or denture-soaking solution. This keeps them moist and helps stop warping.
  • Don't forget your gum tissue. While looking after your dentures, remember your gums too. Use a soft-bristled brush to gently clean your gums, tongue, and the roof of your mouth. This will help remove plaque and bacteria.

By carefully handling and properly storing your dentures, you can avoid damage and make them last for years. Following these tips helps you keep your dentures in good shape and supports the health of your mouth.

What is the difference between a dentist and a cosmetic dentist?

General dentists generally offer mostly preventive and restorative treatments which include regular checkups and cleanings, fillings, root canals, and other types of tooth repair. A cosmetic dentist focuses on improving your smile and can include restorative and cosmetic dental treatments. When you are in search of a cosmetic dentist, be sure to research his/her education, training, and experience in the particular procedure you wish to undergo.

Please feel free to call us to schedule visit with Dr. Harogiannis
